2011 ended with a few days in England’s beautiful Lake District. I had a map with painstakingly researched list of locations, a bag full of photo gear and a strong determination to knock out a hatful of landscape images.

Sadly the weather had other ideas. For nigh on three days it rained constantly and, aided and abetted by winds gusting up to 70mph, horizontally! Much time was spent in bars, cafes, shops and a succession of dull, overpriced ‘attractions’.

Then, just before setting off home (in a mood almost as foul as the weather) the omnipresent dark grey clouds broke to provide a miraculous ten-minute window at Castlerigg stone circle above Keswick before the next downpour blew in.

So this is the last photo to fall out of my Pentax in 2011. Hope you enjoy it and Happy New Year!
